Director Chloe Zhao’s Nomadland won four BAFTA Film Awards 2021, including the best film. The film’s lead actress Frances McDormand also won the best actress title while Zhao won the best director award.
The film also won in the cinematography category. After so many awards received by the film in BAFTA, the chances of it being the top contender at the OSCARS ceremony later this month have also increased considerably.
Emerald Fennell’s Me Too drama Promising Young Women was declared the best British film at the ceremony. Fennell, who played Camilla Parker Bowles in Netflix’s hit film The Crown, also won an award in the screenplay category.
The first best film by a British writer, director or producer went to Remy Weeks’ His House. Thomas Winterberg’s Another Round won the Best Film Award not made in the English language. In the documentary category, My Octopus Teacher won the BAFTA Award.
The animated film went to Bafta Peete Doctor Dana Murray’s Soul. The film won the second prize in the ‘Original Score Category’. Anthony Hopkins starrer The Father won the Best Veteran Actor award. Bollywood actor Adarsh Gaurav was also nominated for his role in The White Tiger in the same category.
