The marvel cinematic universe’s newest and most anticipated film, Eternals, had its first trailer released earlier this week, bringing fans a small taste of what’s to come, showing a little of each character, including the MCU’s first gay superhero.
The film features a bold and innovative side featuring Phastos, the first gay superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, played by Brian Tyree Henry.
The character, known in the comics as the main forger of weapons for Eternals, had his first scenes revealed in the newly released trailer, where he appears prominently manipulating an advanced technology of the ship, in addition to in another quick scene with Salma Hayek and finally with the group.
Unfortunately, the preview does not reveal much, apart from the appearance of heroes to humans, with whom they apparently come to live, but it was an excellent way to better visualize the newest group of superheroes of the MCU.
Earlier last year, Marvel President Kevin Feige said in an interview that the studio would increasingly feature characters and actors representing diversity.
“We want the films to reflect the audience and we want all members of our global audience to be reflected on screen. And that’s what we’ve been doing for a long time. And certainly, that’s what we’re focusing on moving forward with,” he said.
A year after Feige’s statement, it was announced that Eternals would also include Phastos as a character representing the LGBTQ group, married and with children.
