Last weekend, Cruella starring Emma Stone was premiered on Disney+ and received a positive response from fans. The film ended on a high note and fans are now wondering whether there will be a sequel to the film.
According to the film’s director, Craig Gillespie said there is definitely potential for additional stories to be told, especially now that we have a chance to see the “Full Cruella”
“I think we just met her. I’d love to see Cruella developed, fully loaded now. She managed to get the support system around her and she can really expand her brand. I’d love to see where that would take her and how you could almost destroy her from the inside out if she’s not careful with all that power.”
When asked if he would be willing to return to direct a sequel to Cruella, Gillespie confirmed that yes, but with a few caveats.
“If it was with this gang. It was a joy to work with everyone, and Tony writing, and Disney supported us. They really created a sense of security in which we could go ahead without the repercussions. We were all pushing all the time and thinking, ‘I don’t know if Disney is going to be okay with this,’ but they’d always call and be fine.”
Cruella takes place in 1970 in London in the midst of the punk rock revolution and follows a young woman named Estella (Emma Stone), an intelligent and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs.
She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate their appetite for mischief and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the streets of London.
The cast of the film also includes Emily Beecham, Paul Walter Hauser, Mark Strong, Joel Fry and Kirby Howell-Baptiste.
