Quentin Tarantino is still interested in making Kill Bill 3 with Stranger Things star Maya Hawke as his new killer heroine. During a recent interview, Tarantino let fans know of his continued desire to do Kill Bill 3.
The director has indicated for some time that he is nearing the end of his film career with the tenth film, however, after some insistence, he admitted that Kill Bill 3 is the only film that would make him postpone retirement.
Appearing on the Joe Rogan Experience (via CB), Tarantino said the following about the prospect of making Kill Bill 3:
“The only thing I can imagine where another epic would be, where I would need to get over it all, is if I did a Kill Bill 3. I’ve thought about it.”
What seems to be particularly appealing to Tarantino is the prospect of getting his kill bill star, Uma Thurman, back to Kill Bill 3 along with Maya Hawke, who is Thurman’s real-life daughter with actor Ethan Hawke.
Tarantino sees a rare opportunity to make Kill Bill 3 a meta-sequence experience, with Thurman’s murderous heroine, The Bride (also known as Beatrix Kiddo), having lived a normal life for more than 20 years raising and training her daughter BB. Until the events of Kill Bill 3 throw the mother and her daughter in the crosshairs of killers again.
Tarantino further explained,
“I think it’s just revisiting the characters, 20 years later, just imagining The Bride and her daughter B.B. having 20 years of peace. And then that peace is broken. The Bride and B.B are on the run. The idea of being able to climb Uma and her daughter [in real life] Maya would be very exciting.”
Maya Hawke became an emerging star after playing Robin Buckley in Stranger Things. Hawke’s intelligence and good looks won fans, especially when her character was portrayed as a smart, independent LGBTQ+ heroine in an adorable sailor outfit for her shopping job serving ice cream.
