Many fans missed Wanda Maximoff’s Sokoviano accent on the WandaVision series. But it seems that in Doctor Strange: The Multiverse of Madness, the accent will come back stronger than ever.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Elizabeth Olsen said that the Scarlet Witch will return to have a stronger accent in Doctor Strange 2 since it is more accurate for the character.
Elizabeth Olsen said,
“So this started in Civil War. The Russians [directors Anthony and Joseph Russo] said, ‘She may have a softer accent because she’s been to America and must have spoken more English.’ So I was like, for sure. I have to say that in [Wanda’s next appearance in 2022] Dr Strange [in The Multiverse of Madness], after the experience she had on WandaVision, she returned to an accent that is more faithful to her. Now that I feel a little more responsible for the character, I feel like she’s got that more honest expression again. The sitcom part was totally different because she’s trying to cling to the world of the American sitcom and play the role as best she can.”
When WandaVision was still premiering episodes, Elizabeth Olsen participated in an interview with Collider and assured that Wanda still has the Sokovian accent.
As for the Sokovian accent disappearing, Olsen hinted that it is still there, but does not necessarily fit the unique scenario of WandaVision.
