In Tamil Nadu, criminal action has been sought against actress Shruti Haasan amid political heat for the assembly elections. The BJP has filed a complaint against Shruti Haasan, daughter of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan, alleging that Shruti along with Kamal Haasan visited the polling booth together and violated the rules.
Kamal Haasan along with his daughters Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan visited Coimbatore South from where he is contesting the elections. Kamal Haasan had visited polling booths to know about the voting. Shruti was also present with him during this time.
He then complained to the Election Commission about the BJP accusing the BJP of promising to distribute the money among voters if it wins the Tamil Nadu elections.
However, the BJP has now lodged a complaint against Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruti. On behalf of BJP National Women’s Wing leader Vanathi Srinivasan, BJP district president Nandakumar wrote to the district election officer demanding criminal action against actress Shruti Haasan for visiting polling stations.
The BJP in its complaint has said that there is a rule which states that no one except booth agents is allowed to go to polling stations.
Polling for the Tamil Nadu Assembly concluded peacefully on Tuesday and 71.79 per cent of voters exercised their franchise.
