IPL 2021 is set to begin on April 9 and only few days are left for the tournament to begin. However, even before the tournament could commence, many players of different teams are getting infected with Covid-19.
At first, Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team opener Devdutt Padikkal was found Corona positive and now the team’s star all-rounder Daniel Sams has also been found corona positive.
This is a big blow for Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the start of IPL this season. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is set to play their first match against five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians on April 9.
Royal Challengers Bangalore issued a statement saying, “The 28-year-old Australian all-rounder arrived in India on April 3 and had a negative report of the Covid-19 test at that time. But, Daniel Sams’ second test on April 7 shows that he is positive for Covid-19. Sams is yet to show any symptoms and is in quarantine.’
According to Royal Challengers Bangalore, ‘the RCB medical team is constantly in touch with Daniel Sams and will monitor his health and follow BCCI rules.’ Rcb will take on Mumbai Indians in the first match of the tournament on Friday. Sams has played only three IPL matches in his IPL career so far.
