During a recent conversation with SFX Magazine, Steinfeld talked about preparing for the role and compared the reading of Marvel Comics to reading the poems of Emily Dickinson, which she also plays in the Apple TV+ series, Dickinson.
Here is what Hailee said,
“Incredibly excited to share this officially with the world. As far as comics are concerned, yes. Once again, it’s like Emily and her poetry: having this world of infinite information. I’ve always loved comics. I’ve always been a very visual person, and a big book with something over 200-250 pages has always intimidated me, so comics have always been something that attracted me because of their visual appearance. So I had a lot of fun reading these comics, and going through them and discovering these elements of Kate Bishop that are there that we’re giving life to the show and other elements of the comics.”
Hawkeye is expected to arrive at Disney+ later this year. The cast features Jeremy Renner back as Hawkeye, Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Vera Farmiga as Eleanor Bishop, Fra Fee as Clown, Tony Dalton as Espachim, Alaqua Cox as Eco, Zahn McClarnon as William Lopez, and Florence Pugh reprising her role as Black Widow as Yelena Belova.
