Sophia Di Martino was featured in the second episode of the series Loki. There, she brings Lady Lok aka Sylvie to life, a variant of Tom Hiddleston’s character who waged a war against THE TVA to blow up the sacred timeline.
The actress confessed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that she had difficulty when shooting for the show.
The fighting style was a big problem for me. We started stunt and fight training right at the beginning of the process. As soon as I arrived in Atlanta in January 2020, I think that was it. And we talked and realized that Sylvie should be like a street fighter. Like she’s a fighter and she loves to fight.
Her fighting style is very untrained, not elegant like Loki, not balletic like Loki, but just as brute force and she loves hitting people. I think it was a very useful thing to know about Sylvie because it tells me a lot about her, and the fact that she likes it gives her that kind of mischievous edge. She’s like that.”
However, a scene that caught the actress’s attention was the scene in which the character is together with Loki and begins to fight with the guards on the train. On social media, fans noticed that she smiled while fighting, and Sophia tried to explain that this was planned, as it was Sylvie’s great wish for this to happen.
“Because she is on this mission and has waited a long time to be on this mission. I think she’s just enjoying finally being there. Besides, she probably knows she’s going to win the fight or she’s going to be okay if she doesn’t win. I think she’s been through some very difficult times and damaged people are dangerous because they know they can survive. I read it somewhere once.”
In the same interview, she said that she even watched Tom Hiddleston’s films to capture Loki’s essence in what was related to the character’s evil.
